I'm going to California for a few days. I'll be posting again on Monday or Tuesday!
Day 36. My Most Mundane Portrait Yet!
Today I had my license renewed, so my drawing reference for today was my temp license. No, I didn't write my address on there, so if you feel like stalking me you'll have to do more research. I didn't really cut the card out symmetrically, did I? The driver's license is on top of a document from the IRS because what else could be more boring? Hey, don't judge me! These things are legitimate experiences! Anyway, the license photo turned out okay. I have the self-conscious and forced smile that earned me the nickname "Pain Girl" in high school. Some things never change.
Quick peek into the studio.
Here is a little look at my studio right now. It might be in need of some cleaning. I tend to curl up on the floor and work among piles of references and materials. I am also a big believer in throwing whatever isn't immediately useful onto the floor. How do other poor artists do it? Send me photos of your offices and studios!
Short hiatus.
I am in at the pseudo in-laws this weekend with no functional scanner, so self-portraits will appear again on Monday. Have a good weekend, all!
Day 20--Birthday Celebration!
Today Isaac took me to Albuquerque in celebration of my birthday. We strolled through the Aquarium and the Botanical Gardens, then went to a cute little outdoor tavern off of Central. These are the things we saw in the 30 minutes we were there: 3 prostitutes, 1 drug rendezvous, a man making a spectacle of an enormous pink iguana, a leathery woman trying to sell me size 7 shoes, and another person from Huntsville, Alabama. We concluded that the ladies of the evening were working out of a little corner store/restaurant down the street, and everyone else (including Lizard Man and probably Huntsvegas) all knew each other. In short, these people were about as incognito as a bar of soap. We finished the evening at Tucanos, where we ate our body weight in strange meats. Happy early birthday to me!
