Sweet! I have some images that my co-worker Masumi took of my little booth at the Progressive Arts Fair in Santa Fe. They were taken with an iPhone, so deal. Masumi's wife Jessica is the one on the left. I am the one in gray on the right—dressed strategically for hanging charcoal drawings. Those are our action poses! The last image is of Jessica contemplating my work. That drawing doesn't normally look like it has a meteorite streaking through it, but I might include something like that in my next drawing.
My life is back!
Well, the Progressive Arts Fair went well—except that I didn't sell anything. I did, however, receive a lot of nice feedback and only a few insulting comments. I will post pics of my booth soon! Also, I am going to start the self-portraits again. That's right...I'm picking the challenge up again. Which has apparently changed from 365 portraits in a row to 365 total. Hush. It's legit.
Okay fine.
I've been extremely naughty and not posting. I know. I am extremely busy with an installation that may happen in mid-September. I have to focus on that for now. Hooray quick deadlines and huge ideas! Much love...I will make more portraits soon.
Day 45! I'm Back!
Holy Moly! Life got a little crazy there. Oh, who am I kidding. That isn't going to change any time soon. A good friend told me recently, "You can do everything, just not all at once." So true. Listen to the woman!
Day 44
You can't see it, but my head is attached to a giraffe body. And the giraffe body has another head that's just a regular giraffe head.
Day 42. Days of Our Lives.
Have I ever told you about the funniest dream I've ever had? An alien with the body of a blueberry muffin divorced "her" husband for a deflated football with a tuxedo shirt pinned to it. Talk about a slap in the face!
Day 40. Undo.
Is there any way to apple z an entire work day? Nothing went the way it was supposed to. I might need another five days of beach vacation.
Oh, Biggie. If you could see me now.
I'm going to California for a few days. I'll be posting again on Monday or Tuesday!
Day 36. My Most Mundane Portrait Yet!
Today I had my license renewed, so my drawing reference for today was my temp license. No, I didn't write my address on there, so if you feel like stalking me you'll have to do more research. I didn't really cut the card out symmetrically, did I? The driver's license is on top of a document from the IRS because what else could be more boring? Hey, don't judge me! These things are legitimate experiences! Anyway, the license photo turned out okay. I have the self-conscious and forced smile that earned me the nickname "Pain Girl" in high school. Some things never change.
Quick peek into the studio.
Here is a little look at my studio right now. It might be in need of some cleaning. I tend to curl up on the floor and work among piles of references and materials. I am also a big believer in throwing whatever isn't immediately useful onto the floor. How do other poor artists do it? Send me photos of your offices and studios!
